YOUNG FATHERS I SAW

Scottish trio Young Fathers release dark pulsating new single 'I Saw', the second new track from their highly anticipated new album Heavy Heavy. 'I Saw' is a menacing track that centres around a unrelenting bassline that thumps hypnotically throughout the track's runtime, impassioned vocals spit over synth swells and electronic flickers, eventually building into a conclusion of multi-layered of choral vocals. The band describe the track and its explicit political messaging, "It’s a big bully with shite down their leg, still swaggering. That pamphlet through your door blaming the establishment and immigrants for everything going wrong. The stench of long-dead empire, trudging along, a psychological hammer to your head in every step. The delusion." The new single is accompanied by a deeply cinematic video directed by Austrian-Nigerian filmmaker David Uzochukwu, shadowy ritualistic scenes on a beach that perfectly captures the songs ominous atmosphere. Heavy Heavy comes out February 3 via Ninja Tune.- Toby Evans-Jesra
